Unfortunately, with the extreme weather experienced over the weekend we are having to close our fields until further notice. The weather has not been kind this year, but we do welcome the rain as part of our field maintenance program.
We are currently only operating with only one field which is Field 1 (our main field) whilst Field 2 is closed for maintenance as we convert that field to couch grass and Field 6 was damaged last week by vandals driving on our fields.
We plan to utilise the sessions we had allocated next week for run both sessions, so there will be a slight modification to the dates/times as we will extend most sessions to 90 minutes. The extended sessions will be run in two parts:
𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟭: 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 – this will involve a series of training drills that will allow us to assess players on their technical skills. We will focus on the 4 core skills in Football Australia National Curriculum which include:
• First Touch
• Running with the Ball
• 1v1
• Striking the Ball
𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟮: 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 – this will involve players being put into game play scenarios so that they can be assessed on specific elements of how players play the game
There will be short break between Part 1 and Part 2 to allow us to reconfigure the fields and for the players to have a recovery and also switch modes from training to playing.
The revised days/times are as follows:
• U8/9/10 Mixed – Monday 9/12 5:15-6:45pm
• U10/11 Bilby (Girls) – Monday 9/12 5:15-6:45pm
• U11/12 Mixed – Tuesday 10/12 5:15-6:45pm
• U13 MJL – Tuesday 10/12 5:15-6:45pm
In the event that we continue to have extreme weather, we may need to consider running these sessions on a weekend or during the day in the first week of the school holidays (from 16 December).
